Pleasant Pond Mountain is part of the Appalachian Trail

If you are interested in hike an official Appalachian Mountain, Pleasant Pond Mountain may be the mountain for you! It is about an hour drive to the trailhead, in either direction, from the east or west end of the trail. The trail from the west will take you to Pleasant Pond and the lean to. The road is also better maintained. The crisp clear water of Pleasant Pond will be especially inviting after climbing this mountain. I am attaching 2 different links, Maine By Foot and Maine Trail Finders. Maine by Foot has a great description of the hike itself. Maine Trail Finders offers excellent driving directions, maps, and important information. Caratunk Village is approximately 38 miles south of Jackman on Route 201. The road into the village is on the left.
Please be advised, we are in a severe drought. Building a fire on the AT is currently prohibited, as is camping. The trail is currently open to for day use. Do not build a fire in the woods in our region unless you have received a fire permit. You can call the Maine Forest Service at 1-207-827-1800. You may also contact the Jackman Town Office Monday – Friday at 1-207-668-2111.
